CTE – Career Technical Education Pathways for PTEC

6th Grade – Industrial Arts

7th Grade – Industrial Arts

8th Grade – Two CTE classes - one per semester

9th Grade – Two CTE classes - one per semester.  They can not be the same as their 8th grade CTE classes.

10th Grade – Students in 10th grade pick a pathway that they will stay in for the full year.  The options are dependent on some prerequisites and will be discussed as needed with the Career and Academic Advisor.

Pathway options for 10th Grade or for any student picking a new pathway:

Construction

Woodworking

Welding

Drafting and Design – must have had or be in Algebra 1

Engineering – must have had or be in Algebra 1

Robotics

Automotive

Masonry

Plumbing

11th Grade – Students will continue a pathway of their choice.  They have an opportunity to switch during an advisement meeting in the spring of their 10th grade year and the spring of their 11th grade year.  All CTE classes are for one full year and the students need to get a C- or better to earn credit.

If an 11th grade student plans to attend PPSC (Pikes Peak State College) for the two-year tuition-free program (Course material, general fees, and textbooks paid for by the student), PTEC will provide concurrent enrollment classes at PTEC while attending high school classes.  This will help them adapt to college life with extra support from the Career and Academic Advisor.

12th Grade - Students will be able to attend PPSC part-time (minimum of 9 credits hours per semester) and finish their PTEC high school graduation requirement classes at the same time. PTEC has a partnership with PPSC through a state program called P-TECH (Pathways in Technology, Early College High Schools). This program allows students to attend PPSC tuition-free for two additional years after graduation. Students are responsible for the cost of all course fees, textbooks, and any other fees that are charged beyond the tuition.
