Scholarships
Frank Macon conceived the idea of our trade scholarships. He had undiagnosed dyslexia and struggled seriously in school. But he was great with his hands, so he had a heart for students exactly like the ones at PTEC. (Visit franklinmacon.com to learn more.)
Our students can apply for the MACON Scholarship in March of their senior year. In order to apply for this scholarship, students will need to submit a one-to-two-page essay to the Career and Academic Advisor no later than the Friday before Spring Break. Below are some ideas for topics:
1. What career path do you plan to take in the trades? Why did you select this trade, and what is your plan for acquiring the skills needed to pursue this trade?
2. Explain why it is important to have an honest hard working work ethic, and how does that contribute to your success?
3. What are your strongest traits, and how can you use them to contribute to the community, your family, and to encourage others?
Other Options:
"The Tuskegee Airmen practiced six ‘Rise Above’ principles. You can learn more about the principles at the links below or do your own independent research. Start your essay with a sentence or two about who the Tuskegee Airmen were, then use the rest of your essay to describe how you have personally applied one or more of these principles, and how it made a difference in your life."
